The Pagosa Mountain experience offers something for all ages and interests. The outdoor enthusiasts will be in heaven. Wolf creek ski area
Less less than 40 minutes away, The privately owned Wolf Creek ski resort is arguably the best skiing value in the nation. With over 450 inches/year it enjoys the most snow in Colorado, together with low prices, short lines, and great runs it really is unmatched.
With 77 trails, 9 lifts, and a summit at nearly 12k, traditional skiers and snowboarders alike will have a blast regardless of skills or length of stay. Cross Country skiers and skate skiers will enjoy the complementary Nordic Track. If sledding/tubing is more your speed, there are a couple of opportunities on the drive up the mountain. Maybe the best part is the ease of access. Highway 160 is well maintained, and with light traffic you won't experience the frustration of other popular ski corridors.
Pagosa hot springs
Pagosa boasts world's deepest geothermal hot springs. These springs feed the pools at three year-around soaking locations within the town. Visitors come from all over the world to relax in these hot rich mineral waters. The springs are a variety of temperatures so all can enjoy. Some pools adjoin the San Juan River so summer soakers can transition between the warm spring water and cool flowing waters. In the winter there is something truly magical to enjoying a snow shower in perfect comfort of the springs.
Hunting
Southwest Colorado is widely known for its big game hunting. With more than 3 million acres of National Forest, deer and elk are prevalent. In fact, the public land directly surrounding Pagosa is widely considered some of the finest big-game hunting in North America. We are currently pursuing reciprocal agreements with local outfitters in order to give our customers the most enjoyable hunting experience possible.
pagosa springs golf club
The Pagosa Springs Golf Club is a spectacular Public Resort Facility with 27 championship holes. The club is surrounded by the San Juan Mountains allowing for astonishing views no matter where you are on the course.
The Pinon Nine and Ponderosa Nine are mountain courses with ponderosa trees bordering the fairway. The Meadows Nine offers the golfer a links-style course with many lakes and magnificent Mountain views. In addition, the Pines Bar & Restaurant is a relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors and the company of others.

Courses that are close to Pagosa Springs are Dalton Ranch, Hillcrest Golf Club and Tamarron (an Arthur Hills design) which are all located in Durango, about an hour’s drive from Pagosa.
San juan river tubing, rafting, and kayaking
For whitewater enthusiasts, the San Juan River flows right through downtown Pagosa, providing a variety of activities throughout the summer. During May and June the river is flowing with snowmelt, providing excellent whitewater fun. The wave in front of the Visitor Center provides a great hole named "Davey's Wave" kayakers to enjoy.
In July and August, temperatures warm, the water levels taper off and the San Juan River becomes a wonderful place for the family to enjoy a relaxing float tube ride. Outfitters provide inexpensive rentals and shuttles.
If it's a more extreme adventure you're after, the Piedra River west of town offers early season class III and IV adventures. The Piedra is wild and beautiful with 1,000ft box canyons and stretches where gradients exceed 80 ft/mile.
chimney rock national monument
Less than a 20 minute drive west are the awe-inspiring twin pinnacles of the Chimney Rock National Monument. Open May 15 through September 30, you can discover the fascinating culture of the ancient Puebloan's. Once home to hundreds of early American Indians, the archeological finds of 200 homes and other structures have been discovered. At Chimney Rock you can imagine the landscape as it was a thousand years ago, with cultivated fields and settlements extending from the valley floors to the mesa tops. From the base, the hike to the top is just a half mile and it’s rewarded with dramatic 360-degree views of Colorado and New Mexico.
Hot air balloon rides
Experiencing a trip in a hot air balloon provides a unique perspective of Pagosa Country, allowing you to float peacefully while taking in the expansive views. In September, Pagosa Springs hosts ColorFest, a weekend full of events including a mass hot air balloon ascension, and a balloon glow. The Rocky Mountain Balloon Adventures Company offers year-around excursions.
